Saj is a Lebanese eatery founded in Chamonix, France. It was established by Joanna Kassem, a Lebanese woman who, after settling in the French Alps, missed the flavours of home and sought to share her culture with both locals and tourists in Chamonix.
Having studied the art of saj-making in Lebanon with {insert names} from Souk El Tayeb in Beirut, she perfected her own recipes by blending Lebanese traditions with both local and imported ingredients.
Saj offers more than just food—it shares a story and invites people to experience Lebanese culture through taste. Saj connects people to Lebanese culture through the universal language of flavour.

What is Saj?
Saj is a traditional Lebanese flatbread named after the domed metal griddle it’s cooked on. Thin, round, and soft with a slight crisp, saj is often filled or topped with ingredients like cheese, za’atar, or meat. Popular as street food, it’s a staple in Lebanese cuisine and a flavorful way to experience the country’s culinary heritage.
Saj is a Lebanese brand with a heartfelt mission: to bring the authentic taste of Lebanon to the French Alps and create space for cultural exchange. Founded in Chamonix by a Lebanese woman longing for the flavors of home, Saj introduces locals and visitors to the traditional Lebanese saj wrap and other beloved dishes.
But Saj is about more than just food—it’s about connection. Through its warm, homemade recipes and welcoming spirit, the brand shares Lebanon’s rich culinary heritage and invites people to discover the culture, stories, and traditions behind each bite. In doing so, Saj builds a bridge between Lebanon and Chamonix, fostering appreciation and understanding through something as simple—and powerful—as a shared meal.
